The Association raises funds for the support of primary education. With a minimum amount, a backpack is purchased on the spot containing the bare essentials to allow children to attend school (pens, notebooks, colors) and thus start a a path that parents were unable to undertake.
From 2010 to 2019 we distributed about 17,000 backpacks, significantly increasing school attendance, so much so that the leaders of rural schools continue to turn to our association asking for support for other children. Currently we intervene in 47 schools , managing to add a few new ones every year. From 2018 for girls, instead of backpacks, cloth bags are donated, where they can store school tools.
Since 2015, smaller children are also given waterproof capes, about 500 per year, as they have to travel an hour or two on foot to reach their schools, often in the rain.
In 2010, we started a school correspondence between 20 classes of Italian and Bolivian pupils, from kindergarten to lower secondary school. The initiative was created to stimulate children and young people to open up to what is apparently different: through the exchange of letters they can dialogue with peers from another culture, engaging themselves in carrying out micro projects of solidarity.
